IPL Photofacial for Skin Rejuvenation

Years of sun exposure cause damage to the skin which appears as freckles and other brown spots on the face, neck, chest and hands. In addition to sun spots, chronic sun damage causes broken capillaries and redness to appear, and can worsen conditions like rosacea (excessive blood vessels and redness of the face). Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive treatment that improves the appearance of sun damaged skin without disrupting the skin’s surface, leading to minimal to no “downtime.”

The IPL photofacial uses short bursts of broad spectrum light to simultaneously target the melanin that makes up brown “age spots” and the blood vessels that are visible on the surface of the skin. Dermatology Professionals offers the most advanced form of IPL available which, in addition to reducing brown spots, tiny vessels and uneven skin tone, can even help remodel collagen leading to firmer, brighter appearing skin.

Depending on the number of conditions being treated and the severity of the individual problem, a series of 3 to 6 photofacial sessions may be required.  During each treatment, a cool gel is applied to the area to be treated. The light is then administered in short bursts using a smooth glass headpiece which glides over the surface of the skin.  The feeling of an IPL treatment is often described as a “rubber band snap” but may be more or less intense depending on the individual.
